Hi John!

Asides are kind of like twitter entries - little comments that don't really deserve to be a full 'post' as such - Matt Mullenweg (the major developer of wordpress) originally thought them up - see his post about them here - http://photomatt.net/2004/05/19/asides/

I've had at least 20 people over the last few months ask how to implement them in blix - I was initially sceptical, but after looking into it a bit more I reckon they are a great idea - the different formatting / more casual nature of asides 'break up' the blog format and make it a bit more visually apeealing - and hopefully open up the blog to more comments.

From an SEO perspective, given that they don't have their own titles,
h1..h3 tags or any other formatting, it kind of screams to search engines 'this isn't something that I really want you to take too seriously' - so asides are great for those little observations (like my last few posts - 'I'm going away' and 'I'm coming back') that aren't really all that newsworthy :)

Cheers,

M
