How to add audio or video to a Joomla Installation

January 22nd, 2007

Recently I had to add a windows media player audio file to this site (wma) regarding a recent interview I had about my work with the sugar industry - hear it here if you are interested.

I found a great joomla plugin that does all the work for you. It’s called AllVideos Plugin, and it comes as a zipped mambot which you can download here from joomlaworks

to install the allvideos plugin, all you have to do is go to admin section of your site, then the installers menu, then select mambots. After that, browse to the zip archive you’ve just downloaded, and click install… bob’s your uncle.

In case you get a ‘restricted access’ error when you try to set up the allvideos plugin (doubleclick it in the mambots menu) there is a known error with joomla! that causes that behaviour.. luckily to save you time, we’ve included the fix here for you to download - from here just download it, unzip it and place it into your "/administrator/components/com_mambots" folder.

That should fix your problem!

By the way, if you are wondering how to use allvideos, just double click it in the admin mambots menu, and you’ll find a really informative help file.

All the best,

Doc
