Vinay - one remote should be fine. I’m not aware of any reason a fairmont would be any different to a normal BA.

Silly question, perhaps, but are you sure the battery is ‘good’ in the new remote?

i tried again ‘n’ again but still didn’t get through ..the lock cycle not starting ..i don’t know why…..do i have to have 2 remotes for programming or just one will do the job…or is there any different programming for fairmont ba….plz help

Mike - I have a BA ute. It obviously has no ‘boot’ or trunk. I went to the wreckers and got a 4 button remote… it works just fine with the ute instead of a 3 button remote.. The fourth button just simply does nothing!

Vinay - Please see Gerry’s answer above re: making sure that the demist light actually comes on.. and you need to do this all within ~ 5 secs of turning the key, from memory.

i have ford fairmont ba 2003 …and i only have one remote with me ….and i want that to be programmed ..i had read the instruction in manual which is same as u written …but still after pressing rear demister button three times no lock cycle starts …Is there any different way for ford fairmont ..plz help me

Love your article. Programmed two new remotes and worked a treat! Thank you. You may want to add ton the article on how to replace the crappy BA Falcon door actuators that keep failing.

Reprogramming a new key pad in my 01 AU11 Fairmont Ghia I found that when you press the demist button three times you have to make sure it actually switches the demist on/off/on otherwise it doesn’t work so watch for the demist warning light on the instrument panel. Took a while to wake up to this but then no problem.
