<a href="http://www.utheguru.com/get-out-of-supplemental-index">How to get out of the supplemental index?</a>

June 05, 2007: Google still shows it in supplemental. Checking cache:
"This is G o o g l e's cache of ... as retrieved on 11 May 2007 21:15:25 GMT."
Speed of crawl is one of hundreds constraints; wording "Fresh content" simply means that. HTTP 1.1 also plays a role here, such as HEAD queries from Googlebot which may compare MD5 checksum of a page and find that page is not modified (I need to check server logs in debug mode; at least it understands "Last-Modified" and "Expiration" headers) If Google believes you page changes once a month, it may go to supplemental (depends on many other constraints such as Google Toolbar query-monitoring, history records for a website and indexed terms, etc).

Just as a sample, all pages from my site retrieved after May 30, 2007 are in the main index; all 'old' pages are in supplemental. And it does not depend on PR (in my specific case only); the only logic is cache freshness (and possibly query monitoring via Toolbar).

This is just 'technical' constraint, it depends on many (in-human-language) factors such as site quality, fresh content, etc.

I hope the "trip" made up for all the airline hassles. What a mess! And you already had a long flight to endure, and add that with the extended airport stay ...

Thanks John!

I'm happy tom say that I have now arrived home - the flight eventually left, but it wasn't until about 8.30 in the morning (LA time) - by that stage I'd been waiting at LA airport ~24 hours - this was not the smoothest overseas trip I've ever had.

Meh, when it comes down to it - the wing of the 747 was seriously damaged, but even though we had to endure a whole night waiting around in LAX without any food or refreshments (all the retail outlets were closed), I think everyone was just happy that the job was done right - a 747 with a dodgy aileron isn't something I'd be happy flying on (at least, unless I had my parachute with me :) )

Cheers,
