So Google – why the outage?

For about the last six hours, google webmasters tools have been having all sorts of issues – previously verified sites are no longer verified, and when users try to verify, they get the error “Our system has experienced a temporary problem. ” My advice is that this seems to happen on a fairly regular basis.. the only difference being that the fact that previously verified sites are now showing up as un-verified. I wouldn’t mind betting that within a few more hours everything will be hunk dorey, and you won’t actually need to reverify your sites. Whaddya reckon might be causing these issues? They aren’t just restricted to the sitemap tools website – I’ve also been having delays and weirdness in Google Analytics.. Anyone got any ideas?

I think it has to do with work on their servers and or heavily loaded servers. The Dutch Google webmaster program showed exactly the same problems during several days in December, eg. for our sites http://www.diskidee.nl, http://www.wijnidee.be etc. These now seem to have resolved themselves. Sites previously verified with the correct tag or file were automatically reverified when the problem dissapeared. My 2 cts.
